Past Grand Master James M. Barkdull
Most Worshipful Brother Jim Barkdull served Plymouth‑Kilwinning Lodge No. 149 with distinction, holding the office of Worshipful Master twice. His first term was in 1985. His second term came in 2013, when he selflessly stepped in following the passing of Worshipful Brother Larry Benner in December 2012, shortly after Brother Benner had been elected to serve as Master.
In addition to these leadership roles, MWB Barkdull dedicated many years to the administrative and operational life of the Lodge. He served three terms as Secretary (2008–2010, 2018–2019, 2022), multiple terms as Assistant Secretary (2010–2011, 2015–2017, 2020–2021, 2023), and as Trustee in 2020.
Beyond his service to our Lodge, Most Worshipful Brother Barkdull represented Plymouth‑Kilwinning with pride and commitment in the Grand Lodge of Indiana. He advanced through the Grand Lodge officer line and ultimately served as Grand Master of Freemasons for the State of Indiana during the 2005–2006 Masonic year.
His chosen motto for his year in the Grand East was “Proud to be a Freemason.” Anyone who has met MWB Barkdull knows that this sentiment is not merely a motto for him—it is a genuine reflection of his character and his lifelong devotion to the Craft.
